Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Resort Cottage?
Sometimes known as a ‘Park Model,’ a Resort Cottage provides resort living in a pre-manufactured home that’s typically between 400-700 square feet, plus optional outside deck area. Our models are all built here in Canada, designed to be used for Spring, Summer and Fall, and built to a very high standard. Unlike a traditional cottage, they are designed with simplicity in mind — very little maintenance is really required other than winterizing, which we can arrange.
What does a Resort Cottage cost to buy?
Wherever possible we like to have a range of models available starting around $79,900 plus HST. What that means to most of our customers is an initial down-payment of around $18,000 and bi-weekly finance payments of $277. Larger models are also available.
How can customers fund their Resort Cottage?
Customers are welcome to purchase outright if they wish, although most of our customers historically have used a funding package provided by Dealerplan because it’s simple, easy and doesn’t use existing lines of credit. Dealerplan specializes in Resort Cottage financing, so typically they offer the best deals. All funding packages are available on approved credit.
What does a customer get for their money?
All of our resort cottages are ‘turn-key’ ready and include appliances, air conditioning, plus all furnishings and window treatments. The resort will take care of delivery, installation, set-up, steps and skirting, all at no extra charge. Some resort cottages will also include a large outside deck.
What are the costs of owning a resort cottage?
All of our resort cottage owners pay an annual resort management fee, sometimes known as a ‘Site Fee.’ This gives unlimited access to the resort for the whole family, including amenities, activities and events. The amount each customer pays depends on the chosen location on each resort. In addition, like a regular cottage, a customer pays for propane and hydro. Supply of water and septic are taken care of by the resort at no additional cost. Property tax is not charged.
Do the annual fees increase?
Although we make every effort to keep price increases to a minimum, like most things, annual fees will increase from time to time. Historically, increases have ranged from 2-4% per year.
I have an RV/Trailer — can I trade this in?
Yes, more and more people are looking at resort cottage ownership as an alternative to a RV/trailer. We offer very competitive trade-in values against the purchase of a Resort Cottage, and our aim is to make the transition as easy as possible for our customers.
How long does the buying process take?
Once a customer is happy with their chosen resort and location, and we have received a deposit, we can move quickly to have everything set up and ready for you to enjoy the season in around one week, subject to Resort Cottage stock availability. Paperwork is quick and easy, doesn’t require lawyers or deeds, and we take care of everything, leaving our customers to focus on deciding what to do on their first weekend with us!
